BRIEF PROFILE
Hemant has over 40 years of Global experience as CXO in both line and staff functions in different verticals ( IT , Telecom, Engineering, Automotive) and in several geographies (Asia —specifically Japan— as well as in Europe & Americas)
Backed by a strong personal & professional he has managed to grow existing businesses as well as to to launch greenfield ones and scale those up too.
After 20 years at Mahindra & Mahindra as a Member of the Group executive Board and as Chairman of Mahindra CIE, Mahindra Sanyo Steels , Mahindra Aerospace and Mahindra Engineering , he has been able to “bring home” FDI across verticals to leverage cross border investments.
Hemant has also been an Advisor several global PE funds (Temasek , JC Flowers CD&R) to help harvest the benefits of complementary skills and access to markets and technology.
As an Advisor / Independent Director , Hemant continues to mentor the companies that he founded and scaled up ( as a resident “intrapreneur” at M&M ) via an IPO and/or strategic sale. As also those aligned to what India needs ( Aerospace . EV , Ethanol ) that wish to emulate the success of the former.

MAHINDRA CIE was mandated to create an LCC alternative to the traditional industry leaders in Europe and North America. It is one of three startups he fashioned for parent Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), a $25 bn Industrial & Technology Group from India and best known for its impeccable standards of governance.
Hemant also founded the Engineering Services and Aerospace businesses and all three have a global presence across the North America , Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Spain, Germany, Italy and Japan.
Both the Auto Components & Engineering Services have been monetized by listing and strategic sale respectively. An equity swap with a European counterpart has led to the formation of a USD 5 bn JV with listed entities in Spain and India which has rewarded shareholders with an increase of 400% in its first five years of operation.
As the Founder Chairman of Mahindra Aerospace, he has helped pioneer the design, engineering and manufacturing of utility aircraft in India and Australia.
Hemant stared out at IBM heading its Financial Services Group for the ASEAN region and followed that up with 18 years as CFO & COO at a leading Paper, Chemicals & Engineering Group.
As the founding CEO of Essar Telecom in the nascent stages of India’s mobility revolution he pioneered the consolidation in the industry with a merger with Hutchison Whampoa (and later Vodafone).
